5 Tips for Planning Your Engagement Session

Congratulations on your engagement, beautiful people!

I’ve already gone over why we recommend an engagement session, but let’s talk about what you can do to make it extra rad. It is after all the first time we get to meet officially - a camera-worthy event if I do say so myself.

1) Weird is wonderful.

Silly antics, funky dance moves and inappropriate secrets that make your future spouse burst out laughing is the name of the game here. All of my couples receive a questionnaire that tailors the experience to them and reminds them to embrace their extra unique you-ness. Goofballs encouraged.

2) Location, location, location.

Forget the fancy schmancy botanical gardens if all you want to do with each other is Netflix and chill. Help me help you showcase what YOU love, not what you think will look good in photos. I’ll make you look good regardless. That’s why you’re hiring me, right?

3) Dress to impress (yourself).

Who needs suits and ties when you can wear pizza button-ups? My point is - when we take photos, I want you to feel like a million bucks. Wear the fun blazer or funky heels and be yourself. You’re going to feel more confident and your photos will be uniquely yours - Grandma will forgive you.

4) Where are my prop people at?

Bring it on, my friends! Whether it’s giant balloons, colorful confetti, and ESPECIALLY if you have fur children, props (and furry family members) add a playful touch to your session. Embrace your interests, hobbies, and inner child, and go wild. I can keep up.

5) Go with the flow, man.

In the famous words of Taylor Swift, haters gonna hate. Embrace the unexpected rain shower, the spontaneous moments, and the impromptu high-fiving action from that random guy on the park bench. Sometimes the unplanned shots turn out to be the best ones.

Cheers to engagement sessions that are real, fun, and seriously a good time. For real, call me for a good time.
