Don’t Let Wedding Planning Take Over Your Relationship.
Tips From an Orlando Wedding Photographer Who’s Seen It All
Planning a wedding in Central Florida is exciting. You’ve got gorgeous venues to choose from, wedding expos every other weekend, and vendors galore, but let’s be real: it can also feel like a full-time job. As an Orlando wedding photographer, I’ve seen couples go from totally in sync to barely making eye contact over guest list stress. And hey, no judgment—planning a wedding is a lot.
But your relationship deserves more than a to-do list. Here’s how to protect your connection while still planning the wedding of your dreams.
1. Schedule Non-Wedding Date Nights
Between seating charts, florist calls, and budgeting spreadsheets, it’s easy to forget what this is all really about: the two of you. That’s why I always tell my couples to make time for “wedding-free” date nights.
Orlando has some incredible local gems, grab tacos at Black Rooster, walk the loop at Lake Eola, catch a show at Dr. Phillips, or hit up East End Market for a bite and some people-watching. Whether it's fancy or low-key, it just needs to be time where the only agenda is to have fun and enjoy each other. Your future wedding photos will thank you for that glow that only quality time can create.
2. Divide and Conquer (Strategically)
There’s no rule saying you both have to be involved in every single planning task. If one of you loves vendor research and the other thrives on design, lean into that. Maybe you’re the detail-obsessed spreadsheet nerd (respect), and your partner’s the visual type who gets excited about mood boards and signature cocktails.
Split up the responsibilities and trust each other to handle your lanes. Set check-ins where you can update each other without turning it into a boardroom meeting. Planning your wedding doesn’t have to feel like a business partnership, it can still be fun and collaborative when you let each other shine.
3. Set a “Wedding-Free Zone”
Weddings have a way of sneaking into every conversation, every space, every moment. So here’s your challenge: create a “wedding-free zone.” Maybe it’s Sunday mornings with coffee and pancakes. Maybe it’s your bedroom, no phones, no Pinterest, just peace.
This gives your mind and your relationship a break from planning fatigue. Planning a wedding in Orlando (or anywhere!) involves a thousand little decisions. Giving yourself time and space to not think about it actually helps you show up better when you do need to make those big choices.
4. Remember Why You’re Doing This
At the heart of it, your wedding is one (incredible) day—but your relationship is forever. The best weddings I’ve photographed in Central Florida weren’t the most extravagant or Pinterest-perfect—they were the ones where the couple was completely in it with each other. Laughing. Crying. Sneaking glances that said, “We’re really doing this.”
When things get overwhelming, take a step back and remember what all of this is for: your love story. The one that led you to this moment, and the one that’ll keep growing long after the last dance.
Bonus Tip: Let Your Vendors Help Reduce the Stress
You do not have to do this alone. One of the biggest stress-busters is hiring vendors who not only know their stuff but also make you feel supported. That’s a huge part of what I bring as your Orlando wedding photographer—more than just photos, I’m there to guide timelines, help you feel confident in front of the camera, and bring the hype and calm when you need it most.
I work with so many amazing Central Florida wedding pros who truly want to make your life easier. Lean on us. We got you.
